Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Compress Image and client-side processing.

Can I compress multiple images at once?

Yes. You can select multiple images simultaneously. FILEMORPH compresses each file locally in your browser.

Will compression reduce image quality?

Lossy compression (JPEG and WebP) selectively optimizes image data to cut byte size. The Recommended mode achieves significant size reduction with virtually indistinguishable visual quality.

Why did my image not get smaller (Original Kept)?

If an image is already highly optimized or uses lossless PNG encoding, re-compressing it might produce a larger file. In that case, FILEMORPH automatically keeps your original file so you never get a bloated result.

Are PNG files compressed differently from JPG and WebP?

Yes. PNG is a lossless format, so quality sliders do not apply to it. FILEMORPH runs lossless bitstream optimization on PNG files while applying lossy quantization to JPG and WebP files.

Does compressing an image change its pixel dimensions?

No. Compression alters byte encoding and quantization, keeping the exact original width and height intact. To change physical dimensions, use the Resize Image tool.

Are my images uploaded to any server?

No. All compression algorithms execute 100% locally in your browser memory. Your files never leave your machine.
